THE 'AINA PROTOCOL

The 'Aina O Kupuna Protocol
The 'Aina O Kupuna Protocol, or the 'Aina Protocol for short, is a methodology for describing an individual using words that are non-offensive and logically consistent. It is designed to facilitate communication for law enforcement, the media and the worldwide electronic community by setting a standard that eliminates using insulting or discriminatory words. The 'AINA PROTOCOL embraces the currently accepted standard in Hawaii, where a U.S. citizen whose progenitors were from Japan is described as an 'A.J.A.', or an American of Japanese Ancestry. The protocol strongly recommends that words indicating religious preference, affiliation or allegiance not be used. Exception would be made only if their use is overwhelmingly relevant, such as in describing individuals at a theology conference. THE PROTOCOL An individual is described using their national allegiance alone unless their ancestry is different from their citizenship. The consistent, logical methodology used to choose the word(s) to describe an individual's ancestry is to use the name(s) of the land(s) of their progenitors. EXAMPLES: Winston Churchill was an Englishman. Jesus was an Israeli. Einstein, born a German of Israeli Ancestry, changed his citizenship and later became a Swiss of Israeli Ancestry. Michelle Wie is an American of Korean Ancestry or an American of Asian Ancestry, a Korean-American or an Asian-American. Sky is a Swiss/English/Irish-American or a European-American, or a Euro-American. President Obama is an Afro/Euro-American. PROTOCOL ORIGINS The 'Aina O Kupuna Protocol reflects the cultural wisdom of the Hawaiian people. Generally known as The Aloha Spirit, this attitude of goodwill and love embraces respect for everyone, regardless of race or creed. Aloha is about accepting responsibility for each other's quality of life. It is about being tolerant of each other's belief systems in co-existence. Aloha is a way of life that leads to a peaceful community and a peaceful world.
THE 'AINA PROTOCOL AND THE JERUSALEM PROJECT
In order to make The Jerusalem Project a success, cooperation must be achieved between groups which have not gotten along with each other for thousands of years. Bringing the cultural attitude known as 'The Aloha Spirit' to The Holy Land will be an important part of the mission of The Jerusalem Project. |
